Dave is a married man with two kids and a loving wife , and Mitch is a single man who is at the prime of his sexual life. One fateful night while Mitch and Dave are peeing in a fountain when lightning strikes and they switch bodies.

Initial Thoughts:

As you can see I’m a fan of Jason Bateman, I started watching him on Arrested Development and I’ve kept watching him since, he’s a funny guy. Ryan Reynolds is also an actor I like (one of the ONLY reasons I got any enjoyment from the Green Lantern movie). So with the two of them in this movie I decided to give it a shot.Vampire bat

Main Points:

It’s a fairly standard premise, two friends who have very different lives well a little jealous/envious of each other. One night while urinating in a fountain they both wish for each other’s life and magically the next day it happens.

There are some funny parts of this movie and both of the main actors do a good job. Dave’s character has a very busy life with 3 children, a wife and a high stress job. While Mitch’s life is completely care free with small acting parts (the “lorno” scene is very funny adult humour) with almost no responsibility or stress.

Some of things that spoiled the movie for me were some slightly gruesome scenes for a comedy. For example Dave has is changing the diapers of his two infants when literally shit starts flying everywhere. There’s a reason I’m never having children and changing diapers is one of the big ones, I really didn’t need to watch that scene to know it.

There is also a very weird scene (which thankfully they didn’t show) where Dave shaves Mitch’s testicles, it does make some sense in the movie but I still found it disturbing. Best friends or not no guy should EVER have to do that Smile.

At first neither of them is any good at being in the other’s life but eventually they get reasonably proficient at it and the movie starts to drag.

It’s pretty easy to tell that the both are enjoying each other’s life but all of a sudden something happens (very conveniently at the exact same time) that makes them want to switch back.

One part is when Mitch (who still has Dave’s mind in him) is just about to have sex with a very hot woman and he suddenly wants out? As they point out in the movie very all guys fantasize about other women and there is NO WAY for me I would have wanted out at that moment Winking smile.

Final Thoughts:

Why do directors all try to make movies at least 2 hours? For me this movie could have at least 20 minutes cut from it. The film ultimately becomes predictable and of course has the message that you need to appreciate the people in your life or you could lose them.

So once more I give this a reserved recommendation and a 6/10. I’ve also never taken a leak IN FRONT of one of my friends and I don’t plan on doing it any time soon (though the body switching could be fun for a while Open-mouthed smile)
